Random thought, Median household income is $89,037, which feels pretty solid for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in South for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
- The healthcare scene is decent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 29, moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The dating scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..
