Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2024. Crime rate is something to consider -Claremont sits at 139.0 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 12 years. Moved from Tampa for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Limited high-paying job options. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in legal. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
