Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for Claremont?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
