Anyone regret moving to Claremont?

First post here. Median household income is $54,520, which feels on the lower side for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Came here for retirement and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The cost of living is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 6 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 45, moved here 3 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Greenfield and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The community vibe situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
