Is Claremont getting better or worse?

Just moved here 11 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,077 for rent here. The median home value here is around $171,900, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Let me know your thoughts. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Cedar Grove area are solid. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Atlanta it's better than expected.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Fairview) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Francisco about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Baltimore about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.
