Top 5 things I love about Claremore

I've been here for 9 years and Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $978 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
