Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Homes are going for about $112,200 on average. Poverty rate is 8.2%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- The cultural scene scene is average
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely better than expected and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in finance here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Good luck with whatever you decide..
