Freelancing from Clarkdale -experience?

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 0.5%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $32,607, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 4,642, Clarkdale is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Anyone in a similar situation? Cheers. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 50, moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The healthcare situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Uptown area are average. Kids love it here.
