Hey folks, Military spouse here. With a population of 14,423, Clarksdale is a small town. You can expect to pay around $762 for rent here. Homes are going for about $84,200 on average. Median household income is $35,210, which feels on the lower side for the area. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Cedar Grove for 4 years. Moved from Seattle for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is solid - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And healthcare can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

I've lived in Highland for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
- The school system scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
