Random thought, Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,355/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? TIA!

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 9 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
