Clarkston in the winter -how bad?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $279,500 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Anyone in a similar situation? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 5 years. Moved from LA for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is average - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited public transit options. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I've been in Greenfield for 1 years. Moved from Miami for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Nightlife is limited. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in South area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cost of living scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Tampa about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in hospitality here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is underrated. No regrets on my end..
