You can expect to pay around $1,373 for rent here. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 7.7%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I overthinking this? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Indian.
No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 12 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in education here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is excellent. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The safety is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
