How is Clayton for outdoor activities?

Household incomes average around $172,226 in Clayton. You can expect to pay around $3,501 for rent here. The median home value here is around $1,017,300, which is pretty steep. With a population of 10,962, Clayton is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I overthinking this? Appreciate any input. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 43, moved here 14 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Oak Park and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The public transit situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The cost of living is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Midtown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.
