Rent in Clayton getting crazy

It's a a small town city with about 10,962 people. The unemployment rate is 4.4%, which is about average. Median household income is $172,226, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $172,226 in Clayton. Crime rate is something to consider -Clayton sits at 8.1 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Limited nightlife
- Poor road conditions
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 31, moved here 10 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The cost of living situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
