What's it really like living in Clayton?

Random thought, Crime rate is something to consider -Clayton sits at 149.3 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- The school system scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..
