Why I chose Clearfield over bigger cities

Alright, I relocated for work and The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. With a population of 5,918, Clearfield is a small town. You can expect to pay around $686 for rent here. Rent is about $686/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for Clearfield? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The walkability scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
