Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 20s, and Homes are going for about $342,000 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
