Household incomes average around $64,440 in Clearwater. Crime rate is something to consider -Clearwater sits at 399.3 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Austin it's average.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 8 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Seattle about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Highland) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is pretty good in most areas.
