Hey, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $64,440, which feels about average for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I work in government here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is decent. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely improving and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (South) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 1 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Midtown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- The job market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
