Hey everyone, I've been here for 5 years and Rent is about $894/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Cleveland?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 14 years. Moved from LA for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Nightlife is limited. And safety can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
