Why I chose Clint over bigger cities

Curious what people think. I've been here for 7 years and Rent is about $1,069/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Clint sits at 105.8 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $44,375, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 1,208, Clint is a small town. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Walkable downtown
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Chain restaurants dominate
What neighborhoods would you suggest? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 54, moved here 4 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in East and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Can feel isolated
3. The pet-friendliness situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Definitely worth checking out..
