Commute times in Clinton CDP (Allegheny County) -how bad?

Hi all, Median household income is $99,436, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 12.7%, which is concerning. The median home value here is around $213,100, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $213,100 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Westside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Midtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for work and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The food scene is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
