What I wish I knew before living in Clinton

Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and The median home value here is around $400,300, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Clinton sits at 386.5 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 38,756 people. Rent is about $1,665/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. TIA! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
