Longtime lurker here, Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 4.5%, which is about average. Poverty rate is 10.1%, which is around average. Household incomes average around $50,852 in Clinton. Median household income is $50,852, which feels on the lower side for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to San Diego it's excellent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a software engineer, 36, moved here 14 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in South and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The job market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
