Hey, The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,760 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Clinton sits at 75.4 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The healthcare is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.
