I've lived in Pine Hills for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- The healthcare scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Raleigh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Phoenix about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (The Heights) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
