Cloudcroft quality of life -am I missing something?

With a population of 1,275, Cloudcroft is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Cloudcroft sits at 142.9 per 100K. Household incomes average around $38,428 in Cloudcroft. Homes are going for about $200,000 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Anyone in a similar situation? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from LA about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
