Is Cloverdale worth moving to in 2026?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I've been here for 10 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Cloverdale sits at 179.6 per 100K. With a population of 8,933, Cloverdale is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is solid in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 48, moved here 13 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in North and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Property taxes are high
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for families. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
