Bought a house here in 2019 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Francisco about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much developing but now it's decent.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
