Cochituate in the winter -how bad?

Been meaning to ask this. The median home value here is around $862,000, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in The Heights area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The dating scene scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 15 years. Moved from LA for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Urban sprawl is real. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 1 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
