Couple moving to Coconut Creek from out of state

Hey everyone, I work in consulting and Rent is about $2,011/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Coconut Creek sits at 131.3 per 100K. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Would love some local perspective. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 57, moved here 4 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in The Heights and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The walkability situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
