Moved here from San Diego about 6 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Eastside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely tough and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Midtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor recreation is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in engineering here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is average. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in North for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The community vibe scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.
