Relocating to Coeur d'Alene, ID -pros and cons?

First post here. I'm a teacher here and Median household income is $70,845, which feels about average for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 55,558 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Seattle about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
