So, Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Cohoes sits at 221.3 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Is this normal for Cohoes? The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
