Hey folks, The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $209,400 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,179 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely tough and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely challenging and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The cost of living is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Moved here from Austin about 13 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is tough.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Dallas about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much developing but now it's improving.
