Been meaning to ask this. I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 1,483, Coldstream is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Is this normal for Coldstream? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Atlanta it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Pine Hills area are average. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much manageable but now it's average.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
