Hello, Rent is about $1,633/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $397,100 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Any help is appreciated. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Tampa it's tough.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is decent in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much affordable but now it's solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 12 years. Moved from Austin for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Dating scene is rough. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I work in manufacturing here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is challenging. Feel free to reach out with questions..
