Is College Park worth moving to in 2026?

Hey folks, Rent is about $1,131/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What are your go-to spots?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 14 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been here 8 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is excellent.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Austin about 10 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Phoenix about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..
