How is College Park for outdoor activities?

Hey folks, I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider -College Park sits at 371.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,846 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Baltimore about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
