Hey everyone, I'm a 45-year-old lawyer and Poverty rate is 8.4%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Looking forward to hearing from you all. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'm a sales manager and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Miami it's hit or miss.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Old Town for 9 years. Moved from San Francisco for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Far from beaches/mountains. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The community vibe is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
