First post here. Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $458,300, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $458,300 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What would you do? Thanks! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is decent in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
