Planning a move to Collierville -neighborhoods?

Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,574/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $134,319 in Collierville. The median home value here is around $458,300, which is pretty steep. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. What would you do? TIA! The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely decent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 2 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Italian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 34, moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in East and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The pet-friendliness situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
