Moving to Cologne with kids -good idea?

I'm single, late 20s, and The median home value here is around $330,500, which seems about average. Rent is about $2,455/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest?
