Life in Colonia as a young professional

Hey, My partner and I are It's a a small town city with about 18,294 people. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $473,200 on average. Median household income is $134,301, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
