OK so With a population of 7,705, Colonie is a small town. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,494 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I overthinking this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.
