The most Colorado Springs thing ever

Hey everyone,

I'm a 40-year-old family with kids who's been in Colorado Springs for 2 years. The community in Gold Hill Mesa is really tight-knit.

A friend just bought in Gold Hill Mesa for K and I'm not sure if that was smart. The weather averaging 48F year-round is {weather_feel}.

What I like:
- Good parks and trails
- Good schools in certain areas
- Strong local businesses

What I don't:
- Not very walkable
- Property taxes
- Limited diversity in some areas

I've never felt unsafe walking around Gold Hill Mesa at night. Honestly the biggest downside is parking downtown.

What would you do?

Parent of two in Falcon. Schools are solid here. Nightlife is decent if you know where to go.. Would recommend visiting before deciding.

OK since this keeps coming up, here's my definitive Colorado Springs guide from someone who's been here way too long.

**Neighborhoods ranked (my opinion):**

Tier 1 (if you can afford it):
- Cordera: walkable, great restaurants, young crowd
- Broadmoor: family-friendly with good parks

Tier 2 (best value):
- Flying Horse: best value in the city
- Cheyenne Mountain: suburban feel, big yards

Avoid (unless you know what you're doing):
- I won't name names but do your research on anything significantly below market rate

**Cost Reality Check:**
- 1-bed decent area: /mo
- 2-bed decent area: /mo
- Groceries for 2: /mo
- Car insurance: decent compared to national avg
- Utilities: /mo average

**The Honest Truth:**
The airport connections are {adj} which matters if you travel.. Colorado Springs is pricey but it's not for everyone. If you value community over walkability, you'll love it. If it's the other way around, maybe consider Miami.
