Not sure if this has been asked before, but I work in consulting and Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 22,016, Columbia Heights is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 22,016 people. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in The Heights area are decent. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Downtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The weather is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The outdoor recreation is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
