OK so I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I overthinking this?

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Uptown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cultural scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.
