Internet providers in Columbia?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Rent is about $1,998/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Columbia sits at 593.4 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much growing but now it's underrated.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Phoenix it's solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
