Is Columbia worth it salary-wise?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 7.9%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $268,300 on average. Crime rate is something to consider — Columbia sits at 320.8 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Has anyone dealt with this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
